If I could go back, I would do it for 45 days easily. This is one of those programs where you can put a little bit into it and get a lot out of it. But if you put a lot into it, you get a lifetime change.

Inner Armor Program patient · Mind Spa Denver

Walking into Mind Spa three weeks ago, I was carrying mind fog, severe trauma, heaviness, and a version of myself that felt disconnected from the world. Today, I'm waking up clear, grounded, and genuinely excited about my future. The HBOT, Ketamine and one-one therapy helped me reconnect with something I had forgotten: I am enough.

I used TMS, HBOT, and Ketamine together over one month and this program facilitated one of the largest improvements in my mental health in my adult life. The staff are all wonderful people and it was a joy seeing them each day.

My friend underwent ketamine treatment under Sam and the team's care, and the results have been remarkable. The treatment really helped, and I'm grateful to have been able to connect my friend with such compassionate and knowledgeable providers.

Treatment that actually works for treatment-resistant depression.

For veterans whose first-line medications haven't delivered relief, the difference between traditional treatment and TMS isn't subtle.

How the Inner Armor Program works

Four mechanisms. One protocol.

The Inner Armor Program isn't TMS, ketamine, and HBOT applied randomly. Each of the four pillars targets a specific mechanism in the brain. Together, they create the conditions for lasting change that any one treatment alone struggles to produce.

01

Reduce inflammation

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy floods the brain with high-dose oxygen, calming the chronic neuroinflammation that contributes to depression, PTSD, and TBI symptoms. This creates the biological conditions where the rest of the protocol can take hold.

02

Increase neuroplasticity

Ketamine therapy temporarily makes the brain more capable of forming new connections. This is the window where old patterns can be rewired and new ones built. Patients often describe it as the first time in years their brain feels capable of changing.

03

Increase cellular energy

HBOT and the integrated protocol restore mitochondrial function in brain cells. When neurons have the energy to do their job, mood regulation, focus, and emotional response start working the way they were designed to.

04

Target the prefrontal cortex

30 sessions of TMS deliver targeted magnetic pulses to the brain regions responsible for mood regulation. This is the precision instrument that locks in the change the other three pillars create. Together, the protocol does what a fourth medication trial cannot.

Why veterans choose Mind Spa

A fundamentally different approach.

Highly effective

TMS is FDA-cleared for treatment-resistant depression. We pair it with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and Ketamine Infusion to address depression, PTSD, and TBI simultaneously, not in isolation.

Most of it is covered or donated

Tricare covers your 30 TMS sessions. Mind Spa donates the Hyperbaric Oxygen and Ketamine portions of the Inner Armor Program. Medicare, CHAMPVA, and major commercial insurers also cover TMS for qualifying patients on our other treatment paths.

Fits your schedule

TMS sessions are about 20 minutes. You drive yourself home. Most patients complete the full TMS protocol in 6 weeks while continuing normal work and family life.

The Inner Armor Program

What you receive when you qualify.

A six-week protocol designed to address depression, PTSD, and TBI together. Three of the four treatment components are donated by Mind Spa for qualifying Tricare members.

Why Mind Spa exists

If this place had existed when I was in the military, a lot of my friends would not be dead.
Sam Peterson
Co-Founder · Army EOD · Two combat deployments to Afghanistan

Sam served as a bomb disposal technician with two combat deployments to Afghanistan. After coming home, he watched a mentor of his, a fellow veteran, die by suicide on Memorial Day, with the man's three-year-old son in the house. That moment shaped everything that came next. Sam founded Mind Spa with Dr. Ron Schwenkler and Dr. Eric French because the treatments that exist now, TMS, ketamine, hyperbaric oxygen, integrated psychiatric care, weren't accessible to the friends he lost. He's used every treatment Mind Spa offers personally. The clinic exists because too many veterans don't make it to the other side of "I'm fine."

Common questions

Answers before you call.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment that uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate the regions of the brain involved in mood regulation. There's no anesthesia, no medication, no recovery time. You sit in a chair, the device is positioned, and you watch TV or read for about 20 minutes. Most patients drive themselves home and return to normal activity immediately.
For qualifying Tricare Prime, Select, and Reserve Select members, Tricare covers the 30 TMS sessions. Mind Spa donates the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and Ketamine sessions on top of that as part of the Inner Armor Program. You're responsible only for any Tricare co-pays that apply to your specific plan. Note: this offer does not apply to Tricare for Life or Medicare patients. Our intake team verifies your specific coverage before you begin so there are no surprises.
The Inner Armor Program is built for veterans and qualifying beneficiaries who: have Tricare Prime, Tricare Select, or Tricare Reserve Select; carry a depression diagnosis; have trialed at least three antidepressant medications without finding lasting relief; and are willing to commit to completing 30 TMS sessions over the six-week protocol. The 30-session commitment matters. The protocol works because it's done in full, and the donated portions of the program are reserved for veterans ready to see it through. Our intake team confirms eligibility during your initial consultation.
TMS is comfortable. Most patients describe the sensation as a tapping feeling on the scalp during the session. There's no pain, no anesthesia required, and no need to alter medications. You're awake the whole time and can talk, read, or watch TV. Sessions last about 20 minutes and you can drive yourself home immediately after.
The most common side effects are mild scalp discomfort or a brief headache during or right after a session. These typically resolve quickly, often within hours, and many patients have no side effects at all. TMS doesn't carry the systemic side effects associated with antidepressant medications. No weight gain, no sexual dysfunction, no GI issues. Your provider walks you through everything before you begin.
The TMS protocol is typically 30+ sessions over about 6 weeks. Sessions are 20 minutes each, scheduled to fit your work and family life. The Ketamine and HBOT components run alongside or shortly after the TMS course. Most veterans complete the full integrative program in 8 to 12 weeks total. From the day you submit the form, expect about 2-3 weeks for verification, evaluation, and Tricare approval before treatment begins.
